Not the best, and she's a whole lot younger right now, but it's got the right eyes and expression. =3APPEARANCE: Mei is a very slight child, with thin pale limbs and long graceful legs. She has a small, earnest, heart-shaped face and sparkling (glowing, perhaps?) turquoise blue eyes that often stare blankly into the distance. Her skin is pale and smooth, with very few blemishes. Her hair is dark and long, reaching almost past her waist and manages to swing freely and remain relatively tangle-free, a feat which Mei's mother marvels at often.
Mei does not have the build to become a ninja, but her parents insisted and pushed her through the screening to become an academy student. When she agreed to train as a ninja, she also agreed to extra physical training and to the knowledge that she wouldn't move as quickly as others in her classes.
Though she trains hard, Mei still is troubled with many of the rigorous training of the Academy, and when tired, she almost seems to become insubstantial, her form growing thinner and almost spirit-like…
CLOTHING: Mei wears simple clothing: black Capri pants and a dark purple sleeveless shirt most days. On colder days, she wears a plain black coat and longer pants. She wears sandals, though she prefers to go barefoot.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Mei's eyes are a bright turquoise, and sometimes seem to glow at night… Her slight physique is another distinguishing quality.

PERSONALITY: Mei is quite friendly, and a very happy child. She often acts without thinking, but often can get away with her tricks because of her personable manner. Though adults are often taken by her adorable manner, other children tend to avoid her, claiming that she isn't "normal." This doesn't seem to bother her, and she spends lengthy amounts of time sitting by herself, talking to what appears to be no one.
She shares many of the traits as Bouken does, and she thusly has a tendency to speak without thinking, share with all she meets, and forgive easily. She loves ideas that are less than orthodox and sometimes speaks with what seems to be an adult-like manner before switching back to her childish banter.
She is very protective of her family, and is secretly ashamed that she brought them so much trouble in having Bouken trapped inside her. She tries to makeup for it by working hard and defending her family fiercely. Despite her large charka store, her lack of physical strength has hampered her education.
Though her family has not instilled within her a fear of strangers, she does fear that Bouken will be discovered and she will be sent away. Because no one in her family makes a big deal out of her speaking to the ghosts and Bouken, as long as she pretends they are imaginary friends, she very rarely remembers to be cautious about speaking to Bouken or spirits.

Hand of Waves (I realize that she's a bit inexperienced for this, but she excels with jutsus, and her control is amazing. Her real training issues are physical tests, and one of the teachers took pity on her boredom at re-learning basic techniques and taught her this. Even so, she can only barely produce some water, and it isn't very useful in a fight.)

HISTORY: Mei was born into a very secret and very feared Clan, known as the Spirit Clan. Her family consisted of an elderly grandmother, her kind mother and father, a bright young aunt, and an overbearing cousin. Unlike a few with Kekkei Genkai, Mei's family was not interested in using their special abilities to fight, or even in becoming well-known. They tried to stay as inconspicuous as possible, while still training their children in the basic ways of their Clan.
In general, Mei's family only wanted to seem like a normal household, and they managed to do that for a long time. When Mei was born and soon after was known to be a Youki, things changed. Her family kept her hidden in their home and garden until she was old enough to understand the importance of secrecy and keeping herself inconspicuous. They sent her to the Academy, praying that she could learn to defend herself from enemies and keep herself from making any.
Up until recently, this has worked perfectly. Though considered a little odd, Mei was not treated with suspicion or fear, and she lived happily. Somehow, though, Mei was overheard speaking to Bouken and a connection was made. A counsel was called and Mei's family spoke for her, trying to show the village that she could become a normal girl, and that she wouldn't put the village in danger. The debate raged on, with Mei forced to attend and act as witness.
Afraid of someone violently reacting to her family's support of her, Mei finally decided that she would end the long debate herself. She'd leave her village and stay away, living… somewhere or other, and making sure her family was safe.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Mei is currently wandering around, tired, afraid, and confused, with only the guidance of Bouken and the spirits she meets to help her. I was wondering if Hibiki wanted to have his charrie find her, because it would be interesting to see how the Akatsuki member would react when he found a Youki and discovered that she was a member of his clan and only a little girl.

OTHER CHARACTERS: Nope. Though I may be creating her cousin, sent by her parents to come after her and bring her back, or at least take care of her.
QUESTIONS: I'm really hoping that I portrayed a Youki correctly, and that I stayed within reasonable limits. If I didn’t, I beg you to offer advice or critique, so I can improve her.
